Echoed in Space

Many don’t understand the practice it takes to complets a full court pass.
To most you just look like boys, men, girls and women running up and down the court.
The difference between a screen and a pick is misunderstood.
What is a motion offense?
What do you run against a 2-3 zone?
When I began coaching my team got killed when we’d run zones (I grew to hate ’em for that reason).
We never took advantage of the whole floor
If you could shoot the 3…you got it.
Time/ing and space are essential.
Hustle
From one side of the floor to another.
Jump to the ball.
Sprint…use your feet.
Squeak. . . .screech!  “I wanna hear your soles making contact with the floor…I wanna smell ’em burning.”
Spread it out-take advantage of this space.
Shoot the ball higher or you’ll hit the rim…arch the ball.
“I wanna hear the ‘ktch’ when the ball goes through the net.”

 

Oh, back to that full court pass, you practiced for weeks about this cenario.
“Coach look I can make it from 1/2 court…..”

…..I acted like I didn’t see you but I did.
Kept it in the back of my mind.
Practice time…and space.
Spread the floor to spread the “D.”
5 seconds on the clock
Make 3 in a row.
5. (during practice) Run off the screen and open to the ball.
4. 1-2 dribbles and shoot
3. (during the game) Ball is in the air with a nice backwards rotation.
2. Ball arching through the gym painting a rainbow.
1. During the game the air goes out of everyone in the gym….silence….’ktch!” echoes the gym before pandemonium.
